Vinebox- Wine by the glass- Subscription

Thursday, September 14, 2017

Okay y'all, we all love wine, and if we don't love wine, we definitely need wine, lust for wine, all of the things with wine. I mean at the end of a long day doing, well after anything, we reach for that bottle, and pour ourselves a glass. Something about the taste, that amazing relaxation that comes after the first sip, stress just seems to melt away and its just you and that lovely glass.

So Vinebox is pretty amazing. They send you 3 GLASSES of wine.. I know what you are thinking, what do you mean glasses?! Well they send you these specially crafted glass bottles, which hold one perfect pour. It is enough to do a tasting with a friend of just have yourself a lovely evening and go for the whole glass. I did a little of both!

I had 9 wines to try! NINE! ha, it was beautiful, delicious, funny, maybe a little intoxicating 😂 , but seriously so much fun! I had a friend over and we tasted away, it was so great, our kids played while we had our vineyard experience, in my living room.

A few more specifics about the brand, included in the service you answer a questionnaire about your wine preferences, key notes you like, styles of wine you appeal to, locals you prefer etc, then they do the hard work for you. They have tasted over 11,358 wines and only 1% of those make the cut and into the selection of curated wines that are sent to you each month. So you answer your questionnaire, and then dependent on your price point, and how much wine you want to try each month, you can choose to receive 3 glasses, 6 glasses, etc.

Each box comes with a cute, black envelope with black embossed writing that states "DETAILS," all in black too, packaged in a sleek black box, with black capped glass bottles, it is chic all over in every way possible. All of the wines come from the most remote locales, not available in local stores, they are the kind wine you discover while backpacking across Europe, or on some backroad. Inside the Details envelope, is tasting notes, recommendations, and pairings. Everything from best foods, temperatures, type of evening event, Netflix and chill, or party with friends.. they fill in all those details for you, forget guessing, they've got you.

I think the coolest part was learning where the wines came from, I had one that was specifically sourced from the soils at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius, so yes VOLCANIC ASH is the soil that these grapes grow in, and let me just say, MY VOLCANO WINE, WAS AMAZING. I could drink all of the volcano wines. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Another super fun one with interesting roots, is a vineyard that grows in the Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis in the north of France. These soils are over 180 million years old and composed of limestone, clay, and fossilized oyster shells, like serious Jurassic period stuff... So that wine is the dinosaur bones wine, and it goes best with oysters and smelly cheeses, and seriously it was so good too. I really like the story behind the wines, and it not just being a cute bottle or a cute kitschy thing, but being something so rooted in history. All of the wines that were included had such incredible backstories, I am not knocking American based wineries, but as an American without a passport, having the opportunity to taste wines from all over the world, was a treat, and it wasn't just any Italian wine, or any French wine, it was these old, amazing, coveted wines, and their they were sitting in my kitchen just waiting  to be tasted.

Out of all 9 of the wines I tried there were 2 that I didn't love, but all of the rest I could drink all day err day. Ha. There was even one white wine, that was labeled as pairing well with sunshine,  and as I sipped it, I couldn't help but picture it styled on the fourth of July with a bomb pop inside the glass, adding to the fun, and like they said, it was sunshine in a glass. It was divine.

Best part is, that after you have tried these amazing wines, and found your fave or faves or like faves times 9 you can order a full size bottle, and get your exclusive wine that no one else has...

I can't wait to bring my volcano wine over for a housewarming party, or serve my sunshine wine for my Labor Day party this weekend, and those dinosaur bones.. yup totally having people over for oysters for that one too. Seriously. This was so much fun! You need to try this service, I can not recommend  it enough!  It is that good.
